How it Works
Vidiac is a robust N-Tier platform built on 6 years of research, development
and ongoing refinement. The system consists of 70,000 lines of custom
written code as well as some off the shelf programs to handle issues
of streaming, encoding, and data handling. Designed to seamlessly accept
a multitude of video formats, the platform outputs standardized Windows
Media and Flash video for the greatest reach.
Bandwidth is expensive, server software is expensive, and the Human
Factor of just maintaining a video portal is very high. Vidiac builds
on a single platform distributed across multiple datacenters to create
a robust solution and leverage economies of scale to offer video portals
to new sites. For small video portals this makes the once high cost
of video hosting a negligible expense. For larger video sites, you get
the benefit of a fully outsourced IT department for either free or very
little cost.
Here is how we do it.
CNAME sub-domain
Key to the service is giving a site owner the ability to brand the
Vidiac portal to look like their site, and that branding starts with
the address. A site owner points a domain to our server so when your
viewer types "video.YOURNAME.com" the viewer is taken to our server
and the Vidiac interface is then dynamically skinned to look like your
web site. With the viewers coming to Vidiac, your server load is decreased
and we cover all needed capacity to handle the uploads, browsing, and
streaming views of your content.
Datacenter Architecture
Vidiac is hosted in 3 Datacenters to insure redundancy, and Disaster
Recovery. Our servers are Enterprise grade machines running on a Microsoft
Windows server environment in order to insure greatest compliance with
Windows Media server. Our servers use Fiber Channel connected Storage
Area Network (SAN) technology for the highest level of data availability
and redundancy. Our software includes network and application alarms
to alert management to any failures, or breaks in the process. Network
connectivity is provided via (4) Gigabit Ethernet Handoffs to the Internet
which we load balance. Hardware and Software scaling are rolled into
our management process, so Site owners never have to worry about upgrading
hard drives, network connectivity or software compatibility.
