a message in our forum and we will be happy to answer it.
What does it cost?
Vidiac Live is a free application to download and you can broadcast live from your webcam or DV camera.
Are there any limits?
We’ve designed our system to handle a significant volume in traffic. Unlike other services we don’t limit the number of
people who can watch your live broadcast.
How often are advertisements shown?
We show a 5-15 second long ad typically every 10 minutes. This is how we are able to offer such a high quality service for free.
Why aren’t you using Flash?
Currently live broadcasting in Flash is based on the Sorenson Flash 7 video codec which is inferior to Windows Media 9 in video quality at a given bitrate. We may offer a Flash solution in the future for those who prefer it.
Where do I get my username and password from?
You need to sign up for a free account first and then you will have access to download the software.
How will you keep users from doing inappropriate things on camera?
Vidiac archives all broadcasts for a period of 30 days. We are constantly reviewing archived broadcasts and if we see that a broadcaster is doing anything inappropriate we will disable there account and remotely disable the software.
Why are you only supporting up to 200 kbps and 15 fps?
Most Cable and DSL connections are limited to 256 kbps up-stream, meaning that’s all the data they can send. Compared to their download speeds of 1500 – 8000 kbps that’s quite slow. 200 kbps was the most bandwidth we felt we could use and still allow a user to browse the internet and use their connection normally.
In the software you can also select a bitrate of 100 kbps if 200 kbps slows down your connection too much.
