If your specific question is not covered below, please post
a message in our forum and we will be happy to answer it.
Is the service really free, are there any over charges or limits?
“Vidiac Enhanced” is a pay service, but Vidiac Free is
free to you and your users. We cover our costs with advertising so there
are no limits on how many videos you stream or how many you store. We
do have limits on the size of the video that can be uploaded due to
the vagrancies of the internet and transferring files via HTTP. Videos
should be kept under 10 minutes and 100 MB. Longer uploads increase
the chance for corruption. If you are a content creator that creates
long form content then contact us via our forum for more information
on how we can publish your content via FTP.
What types of content are not allowed?
Copyrighted, pornographic or indecent material is not allowed on Vidiac
partner sites.
Who is responsible for policing content?
The Site Owners that set up Vidiac service also become moderators of
their own channel. After you first set up your channel site we may check
to make sure you are moderating properly, and help you with the moderation
system.
Why do I have to start with YOURNAME.Vidiac.com?
When you sign up, most times people do not have video.YOURNAME.com
ready and properly configured. When we first set up your site we will
set up as a Sub-domain of Vidiac, and once you get the domain properly
configured you can make the change through your admin control panel.
How do I set up video.YOURDOMAIN.com
to be my Vidiac web site?
We can set up your web site one of two ways. We can either set you
up with "yoursite".vidiac.com or, you can edit the CNAME record
of your DNS entry to point "video"."yoursite".com
to our servers. If you go this route you will need to add a CNAME record
to your DNS entry. IMPORTANT: This is different from a domain forward.
Typically you add a CNAME record through your ISP, or whoever is hosting
your domain name.
Improperly pointed domain using a Domain forward configured on your
server. (THE FOLLOWING IS WRONG)
Properly pointed Domain using a CNAME record (THE FOLLOWING
IS CORRECT)
When you set up the CNAME record, be sure to point it at "vidiac.com".
Do not point to "www.vidiac.com", that is not the application
server. Also you cannot point to an IP address as we use DNS-based load
balancing and your site would cease to function if we have to fail over
onto the other server.
Once you have the CNAME pointed, Ping video.YOURDOMAIN.com and Ping
VIDIAC.com. They should show the same IP address. If they do not match,
then contact your ISP or domain manager.
My Domain is pointed, how do I tell Vidiac to use my new address?
Log in to your Vidiac site with your Administrator account. Click the
Admin Tab, then click “Site URL (address)”. Make the change
at the bottom of the page.
Do I have to use the CNAME “VIDEO”, can I use something
else?
Yes, you can use any CNAME you feel is appropriate to you and your
web site.
